intrepidUs Camping
For riders who'd rather wake to birdsong than breakfast buffets. We mix remote DOC campgrounds (opens in new window) and freedom camping (opens in new window) sites with the occasional glamping spot or roadside motel — just enough comfort to reset before the next ride. Cook under the stars, swap stories by the fire, and experience Aotearoa up close.
intrepidUs Rental
Be your own pathfinder. We don't plan the route or book the stays — we just hand you the keys, the bike, and a few helpful goodies to make the journey yours. Explore at your own pace, take the roads less travelled, and chase adventure wherever it leads.

What's included?
Every intrepidUs Journey comes ready to roll:
- A fully equipped adventure bike.
- Pre-booked stays — from campgrounds to hotels (or a mix of both, depending on your trip).
- A detailed route plan with suggested stops and local highlights.
- Inter-island ferry tickets where needed.
If you just want the wheels, an intrepidUs Rental gives you the bike and unlimited kilometres — simple as that.
Fuel, food, and any extra activities along the way are up to you — because that’s half the fun of an intrepid adventure.
What bikes do you have?
Our fleet is made up of late-model BMW adventure tourers, built for comfort, reliability, and real-world adventure.
You’ll mostly find the R1250GSA — the big one with all the toys — and a handful of lighter F900GS bikes for those who like things a bit more nimble.
Every bike is fully specced and fully serviced, with:
- Lockable panniers and top box (with waterproof liners).
- Bar-backs for comfort on long rides.
- GoPro mounts ready to use.
- Tie-down and puncture kits.
- Roadside assistance cover.
They’re clean, prepped, and ready to eat up some miles.
How far ahead do I need to book?
Bike availability usually isn’t the problem — it’s accommodation that gets tricky. New Zealand’s a popular place to explore, and rooms can disappear fast, especially in summer.
We recommend booking as early as you can to get the best routes and stays. If something along your planned route isn’t available, we’ll find a solid alternative and confirm it with you before locking it in.
What's the accommodation like?
That depends on the kind of adventure you choose.
On an intrepidUs Journey, you can expect clean, comfortable, and practical stays — a mix of hotels and motels. Every stop is rider-friendly, safe, and somewhere you’ll actually want to kick off your boots.
With intrepidUs Camping, things get a little more rugged — and a lot more memorable. You’ll stay at a mix of popular and remote campgrounds, cabins, glamping sites, and the occasional motel when it’s time for a proper shower and a soft bed. It’s adventure in its purest form: simple, spontaneous, and full of stories you’ll be telling for years.
Do you provide camping and cooking gear?
We have a limited range of camping equipment available for hire. We can also assist in sourcing new equipment if that is your preference.
Do you provide riding gear?
Nope — riders usually prefer to wear their own.
Bring your usual setup: helmet, jacket, gloves, boots, and rain gear. If you’re short on anything, we can recommend trusted local suppliers who’ll sort you out.
Can I customise my trip?
Absolutely. Every ride can be tweaked to fit your plans — whether that’s a golden beach, a bungy jump, a brewery detour, a scenic flight, or just an extra night somewhere you fall in love with. We’ll help make the route work around you, not the other way round.
How do you relate to Wandrith?
